well, mytheatre seems to "fix" the dvb stream already. i can't capture with any other tools yet cause they aren't supported by my firedtv box.

Thanks for the links, not looked at DVB streams before, I see them '.ts' files have multiple channels/streams/pictures inside them.
Obviously they wont work, as they are, with avi.NET, but when you extract the mpg out of them, like I presume you did with your 'mpg' clip, it will work fine. -
ok. wanted to give it a try but the d/l link keeps bringing me back here. where can I d/l it ?

@ Baldrick I click your link. it takes me to the other thread. I click the link to the tools section. In the tools section when I click the d/l url it keeps taking me back to the other thread.

so if i understood this thread correctly this is an encoder for avis to xvid/divx [xvid only:without gmc / qpel correct]
will this be similar to autogk? -

avi.NET also now (RELEASE CANDIDATE 1) includes something of a 'Backward QF' calculation. This is to make things a little easier for the user. Upon loading a movie or film clip e.t.c it will use a baseline QF of approximately 0.20 and calculate a size/bitrate for you automatically. This actually choses a '.Custom Size' and calculates a given size/bitrate. Again, this is just a starting point for you, you can then change/select your required size/bitrate.

After checking all the code and no doubt checking it all again, I see no reason why avi.NET should not go out of beta/release candidate status.
Unless you disagree or some kind of problem still exists avi.NET will go to proper release status.
Thank You to everyone who tried it. -
Just ran two movies through it successfully with an old PIII-600 and had no problem. Processing time was about 8 hours each which is comparable to AutoGK using MP3 output. There is alot to be said for the simple interface. The one AutoGK feature I would add is the automatic cutting of the movie into CD-R-sized sections. It is definitely a tool I will keep my eye on.
